Our Trustees
The Trustees of the Morice Watershed Monitoring Trust are dedicated individuals who have been appointed to oversee and manage the organization's activities. These Trustees are typically selected based on their expertise in environmental science, conservation, and Indigenous knowledge, as well as their commitment to the protection and preservation of the Morice watershed. They play a crucial role in ensuring that the MWMA's environmental goals, such as safeguarding salmon habitat and maintaining water quality, are met through rigorous monitoring, data analysis, and collaborative efforts with various partners.
Samantha Vincent
Fisheries & Wildlife Manager for the Office of the Wet'suwet'en
Samantha Vincent, of the Laksilyu clan within the Wet'suwet'en Nation, is the Manager for the Office of the Wet’suwet’en Fisheries and Wildlife Department. After concluding a similar technical and administrative role in the Natural Resources Department, she possesses a robust understanding of the scientific programs and governance within the Office of the Wet’suwet’en.
Samantha brings with her a wealth of knowledge through her rich family history and commitment to sustaining and transmitting cultural practices within Wet’suwet’en society.
Dallas Nikal
Lands Coordinator for Witset First Nation
Dallas oversees land use planning, environmental stewardship, and community land development. With a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management and an Associate’s in Geoscience, he brings expertise in land stewardship and resource management to the Board.
His role with WFN focuses on implementing policies that support responsible land management, ensuring that community priorities align with sustainable development.
Ian Sharpe
Lands Coordinator for Witset First Nation
Ian is an aquatic biologist, with over 35 years experience in environmental management. He began his career as a seasonal waterfowl biologist, and has been an environmental consultant, National Park Warden, ENGO Fund Raiser/Educator, and Federal Environmental Regulator.
His last 25 years with the BC Ministry of Environment Environmental Protection Division in the Skeena Region was split equally among duties as an Impact Assessment Biologist, Environmental Quality Section Head and Regional Director.
Rick Budhwa
Principle of Crossroads Cultural Resource Management
Rick Budhwa is currently working with several government agencies, First Nations and industry to help bridge differences in perspectives and establish cultural resource management (CRM) and indigenous land management initiatives. Over the past 20 years, Rick has been successful in creating and implementing alternative CRM methodologies for multiple stakeholders in British Columbia.
Don Morgan
Ministry of Environment
Don Morgan is an independent natural resource management and systems researcher, formerly with the Ministry of Environment. His main research area focuses on methods for describing and analyzing socio-ecological systems with an emphasis on wildlife habitat supply. He applies innovative methods to explore uncertainty, particularly the impact of climate change on ecological processes and its interaction with resource management decisions.
